The Assignment 3 Reference

I will use this sample birthday card as a reference. Oh I love cartoons. I will do a cartoon birthday card as it looks interesting to me. And so..

The Calendar

I added the numbers using the text tool. They are placed very carefully along the doughnut. And then added the September and the bugging '9' at the side. My Assignment 2 is done!!

The Boy's Here

The boy is placed in the circle. He tries hard to look cute even though he's not.

Such Beauty

I accidentally added some details and voila, the little boy popped out.

The Boy's Skin

I traced the colour of the little boy's skin and make some shadings using the same techniques.

The Baju Melayu

I made the Baju Melayu by tracing most of its colour and layering it. Pen tools and gradients are used in this process.

The Happy Boy

I'm gonna put this stupid little boy in my calendar. He's wearing a Malay tradiotional clothes called 'Baju Melayu'. It's a common attire here in Malaysia.

There Goes The Ketupats

Added some ketupats to the calendar. The blue coloured ketupat is done by colour dodge effect.
Nice colour.

The Details Of Ketupat

Lastly, after a few more steps, I added the details. I used gaussian blur for the blur effects. The little circles at the side are colour palettes made for my ease of working. Learn it from Hariz. Very useful.

Firstly, I drew the base colour of the ketupat. And added some gradient in each slot.

This is the 'ketupat'. It's a Malay traditional food which is made from sticky rice. It is usually made in the time of Eid Ul-Fitr. I'm gonna put this ketupat in my calendar.

I added lines to separate the dates. the empty hollow space in the middle filled with stars are made with a circle (with gradient). The layers must be placed correctly.

Big Green Circle

I added some yellow stars and a big green round circle with a gradient. The stars are balanced throughout the area.

The Background

I added a gradient color to make a background
I chose blue to represent a peaceful night.
